IF YOU’VE EVER WONDERED WHAT THE WORLD WOULD LOOK LIKE in 1/12 scale, then look no further than the Menomonie Public Library’s recent miniatures display, featuring the delicate work of former librarian Joanne Baier. Baier began creating miniatures when she was 10 years old. “The creative part just really grabbed my attention,” she said. She joined the Midwest Miniature Guild and the Little by Little Club in Eau Claire, where she really fell in love with creating miniatures. Baier currently owns eight dollhouses and 25 vignettes – or smaller miniature scenes. This was her second year displaying her miniatures at the Menomonie Public Library, and she enjoys how most people are overwhelmed by the details as well as the camaraderie of the miniature-creating community.
